Next Live Performance: LA Country Jail

On November 17th, I’m honored, excited & nervous to answer the call to perform with my band THE VIBRARIANS (Arty Johnson II & Jace Holmes) - as we share our gifts with our incarcerated siblings in the LA County Jail. Gratitude to Living Earth for connecting worlds. I hope to be a vessel for a message beyond myself.
Also, I’m proud to share new vibrations with ya’ll. OKRA [Osei Parker Remix] is out now wherever you engage with music. The photograph we used for the artwork was captured by Daniel N. Johnson the day before my birthday in Mexico City.
A song can be a photograph, sometimes candid, sometimes current. This is how my pen spoke in 2023, now reimagined and revitalized by vibration technician Osei Parker. I’m thankful to be creating alongside another great practitioner of soundscaping. I’m excited to show y’all more sonic sculptures and chisel new faces and phrases under the shifting moons. This song is a remix of an homage to my favorite vegetable. Okra was my passport into this paradigm. My mom’s auntie Genie told her to eat a lot of okra when she was pregnant with me, so when I was born, I gave my mother no pain. I just slid through with ease, slipped right out, ready for the world! The nurse didn’t even have time to put her gloves on or nothing.
